Reading Settings

Jan 24

I need every single person to IMMEDIATELY check the reading setting of your blog. Go in your dashboard and under “setting”, “reading” please make sure it is set to “full text” NOT summary. I need it set to full text to help me grade things faster.

Scribe Post Instructions

Jan 20

I’ve prepared formal instructions for the scribe posts. You can find them under the info tab in docs-misc. Please make sure you read them BEFORE you post so that you can be sure and get full credit.

Any scribe that is posted 1/20/12 and beyond will be graded based on these formal instructions.

Subscribe Option

Jan 19

In addition to the new feature of having the daily scribe (comments) e-mailed to you, you can now sign up to have each new post I make e-mailed to you as well. Just go to the page “Subscribe” and sign-up.

So if you are one of those people that doesn’t want to come to Lahaise’s Lair to check the scribes and posts these two options will work well for you. Just add the calendar RSS feed to whatever reader program you use and you’d really never need to come here.

New Scribe Post Feature

Jan 18

I’ve changed the commenting system with a plug-in called Disqus. This new feature will allow you to subscribe to comments (scribe posts) via e-mail or RSS reader (scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and you will see the options).

Unfortunately Disqus doesn’t date/time stamp the comments, so from now on you need to start your post with the date of the class.

Since you are supposed to be checking your class scribe posts daily I hope this new addition helps make that easier for you.

The comment posting is a bit different as it does allow you to sign in with various ID’s such as Google, Twitter and Facebook. Mostly you will just choose the “guest” option where you will add your e-mail address and name. Please, as always, when using your name just use your first name and first initial of your last name. Remember this site and the comments are open to the world so safety first.

There is another nice feature where you click on the “avatar” of the person who made the comment and all of the comments they’ve posted will pop up. Maybe more useful to me in regards to grades, but still worth noting.

Be sure and let me know right away if you have any problems or questions when you post your scribe “comment”.

Also, as I’ve told all classes, I’m implementing a new rule: if you don’t chose a new scribe I’m going to deduct 50% from your scribe post grade. I understand that my being out creates a bit of laziness for some students, however the scribe posts are something that each of you should be actively participating in. They are for you so take pride!

Scribes

Dec 09

Check out a couple of scribe posts under the period 3 tab, Harry and Sung Jae. They are top notch for different reasons.  Hint: you’ll have to scroll down a bit to see them.

So what do you think? Should we changed from “scribes” to “chroniclers”?

Print Friendly Button

Nov 18

See that cute little print button that’s now at the bottom of each post ↓. That’s a cool little print and/or e-mail feature. Try it. Go ahead and click it. I dare you. Okay…silly, but might come in handy. I’ve enabled it sitewide so that if you want the feature on your blog you can have it too.
